I believe that I can't forget the first Rencon because the event was
so impressive to me (and my colleague, I suppose). In MIDI Bar (a
contest using a disclavier controlled by SMF), the Rencon audience
enjoyed 6 pieces submitted by performance rendering researchers across
the world, of course, including my piece (Chopin's Etude Op. 10, No.3
generated by Ha-Hi-Hun) and voted their most preferable ones. In
fact, MIDI Bar was a playing field, where the 6 groups of performance
rendering researchers tremendously competed with each other to wrest
the splendid prizes from competitors. Unfortunately, the result was
however very sorry to me, while I thought it was quite reasonable.
Actually, I could anticipate the result beforehand. My piece was the
last-place among the 6 pieces. In the next Rencon, my colleague and I
certainly challenge to step up from the last-place.
